UPDATE

This week I am taking a lot of photos due to having to restart my project. I am presenting on Thursday. As of now, I have 6 different photos of 6 different models. Today, I am taking pictures of two models. Also, I am experimenting by adding males into the photo to see if my theory of societal standards or pressure changes the way women sit. Through, shadows or just the back of a male figure as they are walking. I will test to see how women sit by themselves or when surrounded by boys. After today, I hope to be caught up to 8 photos..possibly 9 depending on models. I plan to shoot the last 6 on Wednesday but because I am trying something new my next photos might deal with the experiment rather than a singular model.

Update!

 11-30-20

Today I reshot the picture of Ilana on the bleacher and ended up going on a different route than the original. I ended up taking the photo from behind her as she faced the football field., it ended up being a better representation of the posture/action when she sits to watch a sporting event.

As of now...I currently have two photos in my PowerPoint due to the 5-7 photos I lost due to no PSD.

Later today.... I plan to take pictures of 3 models. That should catch me up to 5 final images in order to get closer to my goal of 15 or more next Thursday. I am restaging Winnie to the original picture I had of her due to how much I loved that picture! Isabel will be placed on the swing and Knox will be [laced sitting on a wall.

Overall, I am back on track and my project is going in a better direction than it was before. i find my images to be more intriguing and creative.

Week of November 9th

I have to restart my concentration. I transferred my photos from my camera to my phone than to my computer which turned my images into JPED unable to get them back to raw. After, I shot my images...I erased them from the SD card leaving them to not exist anymore meaning I will have to reshoot the 5 final images that I had done and I have to shoot 10 more images in total. I have to decide if I am going to have to change my concentration as a whole or if I am going to just have to restart from scratch.

Week of October 26

Sadly, I am in quarantine making it in a way hard to take photos of my models. I have 3 models scheduled for next weekend when I am out of quarantine and plan to reshoot Ilana's bleacher photo either next Friday when I am back or the next week. I am this weekend going to experiment and play around with my back up idea that can connect with my project. My little sister is age 13 so she doesn't meet the age range of my project but I am testing the idea of music and movement. I will play a song over the Sonos or have her with headphones on then will play a happy, sad, calm, crazy, etc type of song.

Ideas of pictures for this temporary project...

Week of October 19th

I presented this week and it went well. I have 6 images that possibly will be in my final AP concentration. A couple of notes though. 1.) I should look into reshooting Ilana's bleacher picture due to the focus. 2.) I should possibly experiment with reactions of the female sitting when a male walks in to see an honest sitting position in those circumstances. This experiment helps unpack my project and the history of women/men. My next plan of action... I plan on shooting a model at the beach to obtain the beach chair picture and another model sitting against the wall. I will provide a scenario and will let them take the reins on how they shall sit/pose. I want them to be as natural as possible. Also, I will do research on projects similar to this plus experiments. Plus, I will continue to print out and write on contact sheets to determine the final image/location for each model.

Week of October 5th

Idea- 5 prints of 5 rooms in my house then photoshop different words that I feel when I walk into each of these rooms.

I spent the entire week in the darkroom working on my prints for our fil project. I was really excited yet also curious to see how the pictures would turn out. Sadly, I started the process of printing and it took a while to find out the right exposure plus some of the negatives were blurry. Finally, I created a contact sheet and boom, I found the images that would work/weren't blurry. I have 2 prints done and 3 more to go.

09/28/20

-Less emotion
-More focused on sitting
-Represents the bleachers and the act of looking towards the football field
-Good perspective

If my other project doesn't work out.... (also, an update on current project)

Alternative idea..
MUSIC
If my other idea does not work out...my sustained investigation will focus on people and music. I personally find myself listening to music throughout the day in my car, the classroom, when i'm on a run, during my daily journaling time, etc. I want to capture the way different genres of music capture different types of people. This project would be an experiment meaning I would use 25 plus people and take pictures of each listening to happy, sad, calming, etc type of music. Everyone reacts to music differently some can sit silently listening to upbeat music as others have to get up to dance. Also, I might add different locations throughout this project. For example, coffee shops, school, car, bedroom, hammock, etc just like my other project but with a different meaning behind each picture. Yes, headphones will be pictures in majority of the pictures but also car speakers and other types of speakers. Yes, different type of headphones throughout project. In the end, this project will take everyone who views these photos on a silent music journey, they will find emotion through facial expression/movement, and they will be able to imagine the type of music being play!

If my sitting journey ends then the music journey shall begin.....

Update on current project
3 different models, 3 different locations already taken and photo chosen
Each a unique picture
I am doing a shoot today of a model on the bleachers

Monday, September 14, 2020

Where they shall sit...

Locations

  1. Parking lot
  2. Grass
  3. Soft Chair
  4. Hard Chair
  5. Sofa
  6. Bed
  7. Wall
  8. Swing
  9. Bleachers
  10. Stool
  11. Hammock
  12. Bench
  13. Beanbag
  14. Staircase
  15. Beach chair
I am going to try to create an image of a different model in a different location. This variety will bring a diversity throughout my project while holding a similarity within the repeating outfit of a white shirt and jeans of the model's choice. This week I am taking photos of Winnie and Isabel. Winnie is going to sit in the middle of the street or parking lot however she feels inclines to sit, of course on a non-busy road. Isabel will sit however she chooses on a swing and bench. I am going to have both of them create an image for 2 different locations in order to find a perfect image of each location.

Sustained Investigation statement

 How do females sit?

I plan to highlight the act of sitting. There are many different ways of how a human sits down and also there are many opinions about how a certain gender should sit. I want to capture all the ways one can sit either accepted by society or opposed by society. My project will be done in and out of the studio because I want to create a variety of images with different posture and poses. Also, I will use my digital camera t0 convert the photos to black & white. Majority of society believe that women should sit with their legs crossed because it’s lady-like and men can sit however, I believe this opinion should be changed due to how our society is today. My sustained investigation will contain a collection of girls sitting but focusing on the “man-spread; they will be able to sit however they choose to on the ground, in a chair, on a couch, etc. In conclusion, my project will have a powerful meaning behind the simplicity of a portrait.

Let's pose..

These are two images that inspire me on how I will position the models. I want the models to look and feel comfortable. The poses are going to be the main element in my photos because not only they show how females sit but capture the attitude and confidence that woman feels within the image. I am hoping to capture more candid photos to show the models in a natural sense. In the end, I want to take a lot of photos of each model so I can choose one image that represents them.

Sustained Investigation Project

    Artist Statement

For my sustained investigation project, I am going to show the love between two young teens. This couple could be of a same sex or different sex, I just want to really want to show the two teen’s connection to one another. With this project, I am going to be stepping out of my comfort zone and will be shooting not only portraits of the two young lovers, but the area surrounding the two people. This project will be contradicting the old sayings of “young love will phase out” or “you’ll meet someone you will truly love when you’re older.” With these phases in mind, I will not only shoot my same two models, but I will use an older model couple to show the young lovers growing up together. This will be accomplished by shooting only the hands of the older couple to show age. This project will be shot on film, and I would still like to entertain the idea of colored film!

object project

My object was a paperclip, and since paperclips temporarily hold papers together, the themes of my photos will be unity and forgiveness. When I think of unity, family and friends come to mind so I will most likely be taking portraits with warm and cozy tones. I also want to somehow incorporate pictures of hands because open hands symbolize acceptance and forgiveness.

Object Project

For my project, my theme is going to be pet peeves. For my photos, I will most likely ask a person what there pet peeve is/are and then I will photograph the pet peeve, of example if it was nails on a chalkboard I would take a photo of a nail on a chalkboard. Then I would try and take a reaction photo of someone with their pet peeve and then I will make a diptych of the two  photos.

Object project

My object was a glue stick, and for my projects concept I will portray friends sticking together. I will take pictures of friends at all ages. For one picture I will take pictures of little kids like in kindergarten symbolizing the beginning of a friendship. Then I will take pictures of friendships at our age and friendships in older ages to show that the bond of friendship and sticking together doesn't have an age limit.

object project idea

For my project, I want my main theme to be baking/cooking, and growing up. The baking and cooking will represent having fun with family and friends, and bringing everyone together. For the youth aspect, I'm going to have the aspect of sandwiches and packing lunch to show classic things from everyone's childhood.

object project ideas

For my inspiration,  I was given a silver and orange metal clamp. From the thought bubbles, I came up with the idea of diversity and segregation. I am deciding between doing old timey, black and white  pictures, or present day metaphorically segregated pictures. I think it would be cool to have a group of white models and a group of black models who are all jumbled together but have a similar focal point separating each group. One of my friends is also going to help me come up with ideas and model for me because she is very passionate about this subject. I either want to do all portrait/instudio or out of studio in a field or big area like that.

Object Project (Chains)

For this project, I want to go back to my childhood and find the "connections" that I had when I was little. Growing up, I was always super close to my brother, Ashton, so I want to show that through my project. This has to do with the chains because everything is connected in my life and I want to show that.

object project idea

My idea for my project is to do a "Jesus Party." This would include many party supplies surrounding my model praying and doing Christian things. My object was artificial flowers and I got Jesus and Parties from my bubbles.

object post ideas

my idea for this project is to have my photo based off of the idea "gross" because that was my last word for the photography cloud assignment for my object paintbrush. my idea is to have the photos theme be space themed because when i think of the word gross, i think of aliens cause they are green and gross. i want to have someone wear green textured clothes to make them look like a stylish alien, like throw a twist on the gross alien by making the person wear cute clothes and have the back wall paper be black with the glow in the dark star shaped lights attached to the wallpaper.

project idea

For my project, I was given a key. After brainstorming, I can up with the idea of a portrait project photographing people dressed in their own personal styles. This relates to a key because a style is a way for a person to show themselves to to another and really be themselves instead of hiding away. \

abigail

object project idea

I was given a pencil for my object, as i began my mind map i kept coming up on society and youth. I am going to combine the two ideas to capture the societal youth. I want to photograph kids, teens, and young adults of how they picture themselves in society and then another picture representing who they truly are or in other terms before societal thoughts and ideas go to them.

Object Idea

My object is a screw. When I was doing my mind map it took me to an important issue in every female’s life. I am going to shoot photos of myself wearing an one piece bathing suit and take pictures of the body parts I am insecure about. Also, Knox volunteered to model too. I still am going to do photos of myself for her to feel more comfortable when presenting. I always will have a full photo of the body to represent confidence and that you should never be ashamed of your body type no matter what it is.

Object project Idea

Going off of the object of a spoon, I came to the idea of cows. There are many local farms around my house, and I was thinking of asking the farm owners if they would mind me doing a photoshoot on them. The photos would consist of the cows with some props, barns, and food.

Object project idea

for this project my item was a piece of tape and from there I want to use a theme of sweet and sour. I want to shoot photos of people who have an insecurity and I want to drip golden honey on / where they are insequre to make the sour be sweet. And to make time feel more confident with their insecurity.

project plan - emily spinning

For my latest project, I received a battery. I want the theme of my photos to be spreading light and radiating positive energy. I will use models that are confident in who they are, and who inspire others to be the best version of themselves. I want to use different forms of energy in my photos such as sparks, light, happiness..etc.

Object Proposal

The object I was given was red sand paper. For my project, I plan to take pictures at the beach. The pictures will be slightly grainy/pixelated. In one picture, I will try to capture my model's hair blowing in the breeze, writing in the sand in another, and maybe a sunrise or sunset in the background.

critique blog

my theme was the cliche saying "beauty is pain". my pictures were mainly of  beautiful people who are dressed very nice, but something in the picture is off. example being holding a rose with a bloody finger.
erin saw my pictures and suggested that i make the pain part of the picture a little bit less visible so the audience would have to pay close attention to details. and that a darker background would make the focus on the person and the pain.

critique

My theme for this project was the hiding of yourself behind possessional objects. Before redoing my photos, multiple people such as Ollie and Emily suggested some changes. For example, in my first in-studio shooting, I had used a white background. Throughout each photo I took, the lighting just seemed off and did not fit my theme well. The exposer always hid my person I was shooting and seemed to fade the whole focus of the picture. I later switched to a black background which all together fixed the lighting and exposer problem as well as fitting better with the theme of my project. Although my out of studio portraits were not entirely environmental, I chose not to switch my background for the sake of consistency and neatness.
For my project, I choose addiction for my theme.  I took photos of my friends holding their phones to show them as being addicted to their phones. Alexandra liked my idea, but said that I should reshoot the photo of bruce, because it was a little blurry and not as good of the rest.  Ilana said the same thing about my photos.  So I reshot them.

Critique

After review of my photos, I have decided to reshoot Alston with brighter lighting and a sharper focus. Additionally, I want to have another photo of my sister outside with a different background where she is looking at the camera. Lastly, there are some minimal touch-ups that I need to add to two photos like the clone stamp, cropping, and perhaps a photoshop of a piece of hair.

Changes

Emily explained to me how my lighting could be adjusted to better portray the models profile. Annie agreed and said i could possibly retake some of my outside of studio photos, and focus mainly on my person.

Critique Blog

For the pictures of Sophie, the lighting was either really bright or really dim. For the comparison of outside of studio pictures and inside of studio pictures, they did not go together, theme and type of person wise. This time the inside of studio I will not rush it- but take my time and fix the lighting, best as possible. I was also very distracted by outside things, people, while taking my inside of studio pictures, which imposed on the picture quality with most pictures. My inside of studio pictures were very dark and gloomy and my outside of studio pictures were very bright and happy, and they contrasted dramatically. I loved having the snake in my inside of studio pictures because it gives balance between the person and the snake, it also takes the harshness out of the person and, like I said, makes it equal. Bringing the snake also was a big risk for me, which was scary for me since I am not a big fan with taking risks.

kinda clique but I'm restarting

So Im restarting buy entire project because i hate my current one, the pictures didn't come out the way i hoped they would. My new project is going to be around the color red, its one of my favorite colors, because its a statement color, everyone notices it because it stand out. So for my in studio shooting, i will be shooting annie in different outfits that involve the color red. She will be in front of  the backdrop white so the color red can be emphasized. Then for the outside studio pictures, i will be shooting sally on the beach wearing red. I will shoot outside just before sunset so the lighting isn't too harsh but enough light to truly see the pop of color red.

critique

For my portrait photos, I got Ella Smith and Ilana Simmons to critique. Ella said to crop the sidewalk under my sister in the photo with a green background and she is wearing a white leotard, while looking up. However, I disagree only because I like the extra concrete and you can see more detailing and beauty, which is my goal in this project. Ilana said to crop the picture of Mandy jumping and doing the scorpion pose and make her the center of the photo. Again, I disagree because I like the asymmetry and the colors and shadows in the leaves and woods around her.

Tuesday, March 20, 2018

I decided to retake pictures of evelyn because cooper and clayton helped me decide that the lighting isn't very strong. I plan to also retake the pictures of Serena to get a better reaction in her face because its kind of the side of he face. Cooper told me he thinks it would look good if i could create a darker shadow for the photos of clayton but he said he likes how the jersey is lit with the light.

Portrait Pictures Peer Review

I need to work on the focus on more of the eyes for my in studio pictures. Knox said that its almost like its really broad instead, focus more on his eyes, and capture his emotions in his eyes. i need to do the same exact thing with thomas, but maybe instead of the chill emotion, try to capture a sad and almost depressed emotion.
.

For my Out of studio I had my sister do the moods: Sad, Happy, and Mad. I need to retake the sad ones and find a better place to do them because I feel as though the blue sky in the background contradicts the sad mood. For the happy and mad emotions I think that they are pretty good pictures but I'm going to still reshoot some nonetheless.

Photo project problems

I had Thomas review my portrait project. He said that the concepts of my photos were good. However he told me that I made some technical errors with the lighting (most were a bit dark) and how I positioned the model (I had to crop some body parts out because they weren't in the background). I plan to reshoot a few of my in-studio photos and make the necessary changes to them.

Portrait pictures review

Harper was not content with two of my out of studio pictures. I will need to recreate these picture with better focus and think about the environments I shoot the models in. The picture with Harper needs to be in a better environment to portray the image of sadness and discouragement because the ice-cream is melting. To improve the picture of my sister i can clear the resolution up, and I show more of her face and the facial expressions to make her look sick.

Evelyn told me to make the picture easier to interpret. To solve this problem I can make the facial expressions even stronger to emphisize the struggle or the joy the models are having.  her review was on the same two pictures that Harper didn't like.

Portrait Picture Review

After going over my photos with 3 people, I decided I need to redo the pictures of Kieran and Brooke. They both need to be repositioned. For Brooke I need to put the focus on the whole chair and her. The lighting needs to stay the same. Also, I need to make sure that her hand in the photo even if she is jamming out and crop it right. For Kieran, I need to change the direction for shooting him. I want to get a side angle. Behind the soccer goal will look better and give a texture. Also, the lighting needs to be distributed throughout his face. I need to fix the shadow on his face. Overall, these will be easy fixes and I will be able to make my images better.

portrait critique

Portrait Critique

Julia and Maddie helped me critique my photos. They commented their suggestions and they are listed below.

For this photo, I might try to fix the lighting. I want to create a more natural light instead of a pinkish tint.

For this photo, I want to reshoot the photo in the same position because the overall idea of the photo is fine. There is a dark shadow in the right bottom corner that I want to eliminate. I also want to fix the hair of my models so that their hair will not fall over their shoulder and instead be like Harper's in the photo.

Another critique that Julia and Maddie mentioned was to incorporate a fourth outside photo of one of my parents (so that a middle aged person will also be included).

Cooper told me that I should shoot this picture in less zoom and in a different location. He thinks the ESJ logo takes away from the picture and your eyes are drawn to the ESJ logo. He thinks i should zoom out  and get the plate in the picture or i should move location.

Knox also thinks I should retake this because she thinks it is too busy. She also thinks it is hard to tell he is playing baseball so she thinks I need to change the environment.

portrait critique

Knox told me that I should change my out of studio photos. I will change the setting of the model to make it fit the theme better. I will also change my models to the original two that I had in studio.

Photo Critique

Emma and Emily critiqued my photos. They thought I should clean up the background and close the door. They also thought adding more light and a less annoyed father will make the picture have the right outcome. They also thought that making sure my dad wasn't reoccupied would help as well.
for these i need to shoot them in an environment where they relate to more then just a brick wall.

critique

Brooke said that I needed to keep my photo project consistent by photographing Harper again in her environmental picture. This is because I shot Brooke in and out of studio as well as Julia in and out of studio.

Brooke also said that I should try and find an in studio picture of Harper that does not cut off her arms, or retake her photo so I can show her whole body. This way it will look more consistent with the other in studio photos.

Critique

The two people to critique my photos were Serena and Maddie. Both of them mentioned the extra white space on the sides of the photo. They suggest that I crop the extra white space out to make the flower pop more.

critique

like the shallow depth of field
 reshoot because of focus
like the eyes and cropping
possibly reshoot because of the back eye
like depth of field and angle
very organized, like how the eyes and lips "pop"

Abigail Jones

critic

both knox and emily told me that on my instudio that I need to capture the full arm to make it look like it is not cropped. I need to retake them to see the full arm.

Photo critics

Annie said that I should focus more on my lighting for my pictures with Courtney. She said they were a bit dark and and I should illuminate Courtney more and pull her from the backdrop. Brantley also noticed that my lighting was a bit dark. I think I'm going to reshoot the picture of Courtney sitting sideways and make sure her dress doesn't blend in to the backdrop.

photo critics

Alexandra Jenney

I asked Abby Beaver for advice on my project and she advised me to crop empty space on one of my photos, but other than that she said that she loved the lighting and how the color red was featured in my in studio and out of studio photos.

portrait project feedback

for my in studio photos, Abby said to make Ella more vertical in one of the pictures. In the photo of Ella holding a cupcake, her hip is slightly popped out on one side and makes the picture look a little bit unbalanced. Charlie said that in one of my pictures, she looks emotionless when she should look happier. Since my theme is wishful thinking she should have a happier reaction.

Critics

Through my in-studio and out of studio pictures I have received feedback. All in all people said they were good but they told me to change a few things. They told me to change the lighting with one picture and also to change the background of another. I have taken these into account and I have changed the lighting but I felt like the background was intentional.

Portrait project feedback

For my pictures, Ella said she really liked their facial expressions. She liked that I didn't do all dead pan expressions, which added personality to the pictures. Emily said she liked them as well. The one thing she said she would change is a small shadow on the white mirror picture.

portrait project feedback

For my pictures, Annie and Abby said they really liked them. Annie liked the asymmetry in some of the pictures.

Portrait

For my portrait project I will be trying to capture my models personality. I plan on having my in studio models be Thomas and Clayton. For Thomas I am planning on doing something that captures his energetic and creative personality. I would like the lighting to be even and focus be on Thomas and whatever he may be holding. For Clayton I plan on using his love of baseball. I, most likely, will have him in uniform with a bat or a ball. I would like the lighting and focus to be the same as my pictures with Thomas. For my out of studio picture I was going to shot when it is very bright, around 2-3 pm, as well as when the lights start to dim, around 4-6 pm. For these photos I plan on using my two younger siblings to portray a happy personality as well as a more sad personality once it begins to get dark.
Image result for portrait pictures with props that describe personality
I plan to get people in their happiest state. I plan to have someone eating ice cream, maybe a couple different pictures of cooper eating the ice cream from an ice cream cone or maybe biting into the ice cream cone with ice cream in it. I also plan to have someone listening to music through headphones and be looking at a phone. I plan to have evelyn almost as
I am going to do a Mardi Gras theme. I will use masks. I’m gonna put a blue
Mask on Evelyn. I will put a black mask on Julia and I still need to decide my last model. I may bring in other Mardi Gras materials to go with models. These materials will be used to create a Mardi Gras theme. For my out of studio I will take the masks to different scene and pick the color of the mask to correspond with the mood of the scene.

revised idea of portrait

Im still planning on doing the sports portrait but maybe do it in variety of colors or just black and white. If i dont end up doing the sports i will get pictures of everyones faces in focus and detail. i would make it black and white with a black background and dim lighting. i want to get multiple people and just capture their personalities and how they feel. i think i will be able to tell how they feel by their eyes and the expressions on their face.

portrait Clayton

portrait Clayton

I plan to do sports portraits of different people in their different uniforms. i plan to do lacrosse, soccer, basketball, and baseball. i would like to do different shots of each person having something to do with their sport. like for example, soccer  i want to have kieran in his soccer uniform and cleats, juggling a soccer ball, for basketball i would like to have mike dribbling a basketball. Also, for baseball, i want thomas in his uniform to act like he's getting ready to pitch.

updated portrait pictures

Portrait Project - Age

My theme for my portrait project has changed a little bit.
I am still going to convey age, but really reflect on what that
person has gone through. For my 3 in studio, I am going to
be taking pictures of Julia, Maddie, and someone that is to be
determined. They will be my age demonstrating teenage years
and display their age through their eyes and facial expressions.
All three of the photos will be colorful and not black and white.
For my out of studio photos, they will all be in black and white.
I chose the out of studio photos to be black and white to showcase
older age and younger age. I will take pictures of my Papa
and my little sister. So I will be taking pictures of the models' young years, teenage years, and old years. This will show the differences that one can acquire with age. For example, my grandparents will have wrinkles and blemishes. I want to embrace the different parts of beauty (inside & out). For lighting, I want really natural and simple lighting that showcases all aspects of the model's face. This can be achieved by illuminating the full face or putting the light on the side.

-emily spinning

New Portrait Ideas

For my project, I would like to use gels to give my pictures more of a story. I will use gels to match the models personality. I like most likely use makeup to assist the color of the gel. The other picture is how I would like to take the picture. I want the model looking strait at the camera with a soft lighting. For one picture, I would use blue gels to portray the model as sad. I would do a darker makeup. Like dripping mascara down the models face to portray the feeling they were crying. For another picture, I would use a yellow gel to portray the model as happy. I would do their makeup bright to portray the happy look. I would use either a ring light with the two gel lights or two soft boxes and a gel light. Even though the two pictures are very different, I would like to combine the different aspects of the pictures to make a very powerful portrait. I am still unsure of what I want my theme to be because I want to do a really good job on this project, but I am pretty confident with this idea.

portrait revision

Portraiture

My theme for my project will be diverse beauty. I will be shooting Knox, Emily, and Emily in studio. Each of them has a different color or texture of hair. At home, I will be taking pictures of my little sister with a fancy braid in her hair. My focus of most of the photos will be their faces and hair. Additionally, the background I will use in studio will be black. The lighting will be mostly bright with perhaps a light shadow on half of the face. They will wear beige or a neutral color shirt. Out of studio will be much brighter. If I really like a photo, I may want to turn it into black and white. Also, I will let my models decide how they want to smile (with no teeth, with teeth, softer, etc.). If they wear makeup, I want it to be light pink lipstick and natural face with either gold or light-brownish eyeshadow. I want them to have some freedom to choose how they feel most beautiful.

My portrait projects theme is going to be masks. The lighting and colors will depend on the model. i will use A blue mask for Evelyn and put her on a blue background and she will wear all white. I also will put a black mask on someone who's skin is less pale. I may use smoke but will most likely not. I will use soft lighting and use minimal lighting.

In and Out of Studio Lighting

For both in studio and out of studio pictures, I am going to use the bokeh lighting style. I want to use fairy lights and low light to capture the model's personalities. I am definitely using Emily and Maddie and Evelyn for in studio and Margaux and Emma and possibly Ella for out of studio. I am taking the pictures describing how everyone feels. I left the outfits up to the model. I am hoping to accomplish this idea by using different technics for each personality. This will be done by using mirrors and different props to add variety. My angles will be very different and diverse depending on the personality. I want to also use car lights as a big light component out of studio. I am hoping to take pictures mostly in the dark or low light so the lights will look better. I also want to use lights from the streets and shops.

Escape Part 2

In studio, I am shooting Knox, Abigail, and Amelia. For Knox, I am going to have her dressed in her white volleyball uniform. She also wear her volleyball knee pads, lacrosse helmet, googles, and mouth guard. She will be holding her lax stick, basketball, and a volleyball. I want the lighting to hit her directly, straight-forward. I will be using 2 soft boxes and light on full power. I want to capture all of her but at the same time for of her face, I am going to have her on one knee. I will shoot her on a white backdrop because of all the colors that all the gear has. Next, I will be shooting Amelia. Amelia is going to wear a rolling stone shirt, black jeans, and with beat headphones. I am going to have her do two poses and then decide which one captures her portrait better. First, I will have her upside down on the red chair with her head hanging down and her eyes wide open with a smile on her face or closed with a soft smile meaning that she is feeling the music. I want to capture a shadow of the headphones and try to have the light hitting down at her face. Second, I will have her sit criss-crossed on the chair, mediating to the music. The Light will be direct on her also. My last model which is Abigail. She will be in her track uniform with her hair up. I am going to capture a moment of her running through red ribbon with confetti in the air as if she just won a race. The light will be direct on her face to capture her expression and focus on the emotion running causes her to feel. Both Amelia and Abigail will be on a black backdrop.
Out of studio, I am shooting Annie, Kieran, and Katie. For Annie, I am going to have her in a room that has many windows so the light is coming in. I want to take it in the afternoon when the light is bright and full exposed around 2-3 PM. She will be playing piano and I want to capture the peace that playing the music gives her. I want her to be in comfortable clothes that she feels herself in. For Kieran, he is going to be placed in a soccer goal on the field during the day around 11. He will wear his all white soccer uniform including socks and shoes. One foot on a soccer ball, holding a bag of gummy bears, with one hand about to pop on in his mouth like an action shot. Also one picture of a close up with him eating gummy bears. I want the light to be direct on his face. Lastly, I will be shooting Katie in her bed around 4-5 PM. Having it be late afternoon when people usually are tired and the light is starting to dim down. She will be covered up in sheets and head on a pillow. Her eyes will be open with a soft smile or closed with a soft smile.

portrait project

In Studio
- for each picture there will be one person in either their most comfortable or clothes they feel most themselves and confident in.
- it will be a white background, to represent a clean canvas, and they are the subject. I will hand them a mirror which will either be held or on the ground at an angle to where you can see their reflection. It will be up to the model because it should be their own reflection and unique.
- the Lighting is going to be even and straight on, i want the focus to be on the model and their reflection of how they feel and look.
- models - Evelyn, Serena, Emily
Out of Studio
- I am going to be using the mirrors once again to portray a reflection of how the model feels but they will be wearing clothing of a single color, most likely all black or white. I am going to have them in a relatively public place, The idea again will be to show how the model feels in the current moment with what surrounds them.  The first picture will be in a coffee shop (bold bean) the atmosphere is people either getting work done, meeting up, or hanging out. For each picture out of studio it will be interesting of how many people will be around, either quiet or loud and full.  The second location will be in a parking lot and third at the beach during the weekend when (hopefully) lots of people will be out and create an interesting environment. Lastly, I might be taking pictures in a laundromat, i think the environment is completely different and a sense of having to wait for clothes with other strangers if it's busy could create a good environment to maybe make the model uncomfortable.

portrait idea

My idea for my portrait project is to show the effect weather has on peoples emotions. I want to display the theme through a sad picture in the rain. In studio I will use a black background with the  model, Knox, wearing all black holding a black umbrella. In my out of Studio I will spray water on the window and shoot through the window capturing the depressed emotion on my models face. For my second picture I will display the theme of happiness in sunshine. In studio I will have Evelyn dressed in colorful clothing on a yellow background with lighting coming from the top left corner acting as the sun. Out of studio I will have a similar style picture with my model acting playful in the sunshine or maybe at the pool or beach. For my third picture I will show the theme of the sluggish or sick feeling that is displayed by people in the cold weather. For in studio i will shoot my model wrapped in blankets and other warm clothes on a white background lying on the ground with light shining from up above. Out of studio i will shoot someone in a bed or a couch wrapped in blankets. Or i will have the model with tissues wrapped in blankets. For the cold weather pictures i will have the models face in the shadow to portray the sick or sluggish feeling.

Portrait

For the portrait project I will be photographing people as if they were living in Hollywood during the 50's. In studio I will be photographing Knox, Harper, and Emily wearing black dresses, pearls, fur wraps and putting their hair up in 50's styles trying to make them look like Hollywood stars in the 50's. I will take these photos on a black background as I have seen many photos be taken on a black background when I have researched. The black background will help keep the photos simple yet complex making the models look sophisticated, it will also add to the time period. I will shoot with a lower camera angle to give the model more attitude. For the lighting I will place the brightest part of the light in the center of the face attaching panels to the side of the light to create deeps shadows on the cheeks making sure the lights aren't flooding all over the place. My goal with the lighting is to create deep shadows on the face while completely blending the background. I want the photographs main attention to be on the model when they are looked at. For my outside photos I want to try my best to place my models in settings that resemble Hollywood in the 50's. Since my in studio photos will be darker with the lighting I want to make the out of studio photos brighter and less serious.

outline

My theme as changed from sassy to boujee. My theme in itself is how different people interpret the word boujee. In studio I am shooting Brooke, Harper, and Emily with bright colors, fur coats, fur hats, sunglasses, high heels, and maybe fake ice. These photos will be taken on a black background to make the colors really pop and make the inner boujeeness comes out. For my out of studios I will be shooting 2 friends from soccer; Olivia and Izzy. I will also be shooting drag queens because they are some pretty boujee people. My models out of studio will be in unique locations were boujeeness is accepted and empowered. My lighting in studio will be straight on from all side to equalize all proportions of the face and I will most likely use gels to create a bigger effect on my model and their face. I will be shooting either full body or chest and up and to create the complete boujee effect. My lighting out of studio will be created using the spoon effect and natural lighting. Image result for portrait lighting
