Picture/Paragraph

I chose this photo because I am really into baseball and I personally think it is interesting to see how you can break down his swing by taking a picture. This is a picture of Giancarlos Stanton, one of the best hitters in the MLB, hitting a baseball. This picture is stop motion of stop action meaning the shutter speed had to be greatly increased to something like 1/1000th of a second. With the shutter speed at or around this setting it makes it clear the the object is not st all blurred and very clear while stopped, but to the human eye you probably couldn’t even see the bat swing at all almost.

This photo has shallow depth of field because it is focused on the hitter and everything behind him is blurred out to where you almost can’t tell what it is. This also has stop motion which is the hitters swing complete stopped and clear, but it also has a little bit of blurred motion because the baseball isn’t fully stopped and clear. This picture also has lots of different shapes, colors, lines, and textures throughout. I would say this photo most closely goes with A-symmetry because one side has the hitter and the other has a tiny baseball.

picture paragraphs

What I like about this image is that it shows everything in my point of view. It gives the person who's looking at this picture a sense that they're in "my shoes". I also like how my shoes contrast against the leaves and the white rim around my shoes makes it look a little bit like I'm floating. The leaves and the dirt on the ground are so natural and my shoes are so modern that, to me, it looks a little bit out of the ordinary. The picture looks like I'm taking a walk even though I was only standing in one place. Overall I think this is my favorite picture that I took that day because you can imagine being anywhere in the world but you're still in someone else's shoes.

In this picture I see emphasis because my black shoes pop out against all the brown leaves. Because all of the leaves are brown and the dirt under it is also brown, I think that this makes the picture a little bit monochromatic. Also, the picture looks asymmetrical because the left side of the photo is filled with my shoes and the upper right side of the picture is filled with a dirt patch. This makes the image look more balanced. This picture has movement because your eye looks to the shoes then to the big leaf then to the dirt patch and then through all the little leaves and back to the shoes where it all starts again. The big leaf, the shoes, and the dirt patch are also proportional because they're all about the same size.

I like this picture because of how calm the guy looks compared to how rough the water is. It represents the calm before the storm through the guy and the wave. Also their is a cool contrast between the orange of the board and the blue of the wave. Also the fade on the surfboard and on the wave are keen to the eye.

Their are many photographic principles displayed here. One is shallow depth of field. The board and the surfer are in focus but the wave is out out focus. This put emphasis on the surfer who will conquer the wave. These are the principles that make this picture enjoyable for me.

Picture Paragraphs

I  chose this photograph because I liked not only the lighting, but the timing of the photo. The bright light reflecting off the top of the bubble creates a beautiful composition. To me, it represents how important the little things in life are. The tiny bubble is zoomed in to show the little details within. This photo radiates happiness and light, and for that, I like it.

This photo is a stop motion photo timed to perfection. This could also be considered a shallow depth of field photo because the focus is clear, and the background is blurry. It uses different textures (the smoothness of the left half of the bubble & the roughness of the right half of the bubble). The colors also compliment each other really well (the soft green tones and bright yellow/orange). The emphasis of the bubble creates a pleasing focal point. Overall, it creates a sense of unity and cohesiveness.

picture analysis

I love this picture because the girl is either covered with paint or her hands. She is hiding all her blemishes but still looks graceful the picture. She could be covering the fear in her eyes or the sadness. The paint is also placed in the most promenade parts of the human body. The face is highlighted in the center because people look at those spots, the eyes, which are highlighted by being covered in painted hands,  and the lips and nose, which are highlighted by the single swipe of paint on the center.

The picture looks as if the background could go on forever. It is perfectly exposed. The picture is a bit noisy and pixelated. The picture also has many different textures. The eyebrows, paint, different shirts, and the hair all have different textures. There are also lines. They are the hair and straight lines from the hair.

I chose this photograph because I liked the timing of the photo and the black and white touch. I have never seen a wave stopped in motion like this, for it happens much faster in real life. Everything is so clear and precise. Particles of sand in the water can even be seen. To me, this represents chaos and madness (the pounding of the water into the sand).
This photo is taken to stop motion. Additionally, it emphasizes the wave spreading in different directions, while the background is less in focus. Textures in the water and sand are most visible. There are different shapes of the foam and water crashing in the air, grains of sand, and lines of the waves in the distance. Lastly, contrast between the black sand and and white water is present.

good quality photo

I chose this photograph because I liked the way it looked. The stop motion of the water adds an effect different than most photos because the water almost seems shattered. The water droplets bouncing back up from up to the hand make it look visibly pleasing. I think this photo is about water purifying and cleaning you as a whole. The hand may represent something bigger than itself being cleansed in a sort of renewal.
The photographer chose to put this photo in black and white for greater overall emphasis. The repetition of water coming down surrounds the hand creating majority emphasis on the hand. The water is smooth compared to the roughness of the hand. Throughout this photo a sense of unity is reached with the hand and water coming together. In the end this photo is very well taken in good perspective.

Amelia - picture photograph

photograph taken by Luis Pons
This photograph is of two dancers, one of which I know personally, is staged but the entire composition blends well.  Your eye is drawn directly to the dancers first and then taken out to the entire image. The angle, of the photograph is taken to give a different perspective than from a photograph taken straight on or directly above.  The patterns in the image work well together, the circular motions of the tiles and the dancers placed also in a circular shape. The technical features of this image allow your eyes to travel throughout the image and the color is all very central to black and white.  The picture is clear throughout, with a deep depth of field, and is not emphasizing an single object even though the dancers are more on the right side of the photograph.

I like this photo as it is about dance, which is a big part of my life.  As well, it is not a normal picture you would come across. The colors blend well together which can be appealing to the eye, as well both dancer's hair is a blonde-yellow. The color of the hair adds to the photography without being obnoxious.

Picture I like

I like this photo for many reasons, mainly the usage of depth of field and contrasting colors. The first thing I noticed when I saw this picture was the contrast between the black and white keys. The difference in color drew me in to the photo before I noticed the interesting composition of the photo. I also noticed the placement of the focal point in the picture. I found it intriguing that the photographer chose to focus on the keys in the middle instead of the ones in the begging. I thought that it was a cool tactic because it is very rarely used in this manner correctly. I feel like it is something I should use more often.

Another interesting aspect of this photo was how basic the premise of the photo. The photo is composed, mainly, of three colors. White, black, and a little green dominate this picture. It shows that a basic object can still be photographed in an interesting way. I like this because I try to take photos a lot like this one. The idea of simple objects can create a technically complex image is something I enjoy photographing.

"Let's Party" Evelyn Miller P5

I love this picture because it represents different colors and energy. The left of the photo is dark which gives that side of the room a more mellow and moody vibe. But then if you look to the right of the photo the colors are bright and colorful giving off a more happy vibe. This photo reminds me of myself because sometimes I keep to myself and other times i am all over the place. The stairs make you wonder what is going on up there and make you want to find out.

The principles of design used in this photo are movement and unity. The stairs provide movement because your eye follows the circular pattern of the stairs. It is unity because everything comes together to make the picture complete and whole. It also has stop motion because the people on the stairs are walking down but their movement is stopped. The picture also has different shapes and colors. Some shapes are rectangular and circular. The colors are neon and bright.

picture paragraphs- Harper

I like this photo a lot. I like how you can see what is right in front of the photographer, but also what is behind the glass and at the same time you can see what is happeneing behind the photographer in the reflection of the glass. i like how you can see everyone in the background clearly in the reflection but the photographer is just a shadow. i think its really cool that you can see the happiness in the people outside of the store and the lady inside working and being focused. i like how this is a candid photo and it shows the real difference in peoples moods depending on what they are doing.

This photo has a lot of different elements that make it look very good. i like the asymmetry in this photo. i like how it is very people heavy on the right side from the front but in the reflection it is more people heavy on the left side. i love the colors in the photo also.  i like how the blue table (the darker table) is filled with people on the side where more people are. i like how the person in the reflections shirt really pops out. i like how the shallow depth of field makes it look like it could be the reflection making it look blurry, but that its really shallow depth of field

Picture Paragraphs-- Abigail

I really like the high saturation of this picture.  I like high saturation pictures like this because I think it changes the mood of the picture. The red on red on red in this picture really makes her face "pop"and brings your eye right to her face especially her eyes. It appears as if the rest of her body is just invisible, and just her head is there. I like how this picture is composed. I think it is clean and pristine.

This picture is a balance of the elements of design and principles of design. The lines and the color and contrast are the most important elements of design in this picture I believe. Most of the lines show the differences in color, but what I like most is that they are all very sharp and make the picture look clean. There is not much contrast other than the bright red to her face, but that's what really makes me like this picture; the bright red in high saturation. Overall, I like the way this picture uses the elements and principles in it's favor.

its a hard knox life

I like this picture because even though this boy may have a hard life, he is smiling and joyful. Since I am a happy person, seeing other people being happy makes me even happier. A second reason I like this picture is because while looking at this picture you begin to feel many emotions. The fact that you cannot see the background makes you focus on the little boys beautiful characteristics.

Not only is this picture visualizing pleasing to the eye, but it also many different elements. This picture is very clear and the photographer used shallow depth of field because the background is blurred out. The texture of his hands and face and the contrasting colors of his shirt to his skin tone also makes it very pleasing to the eye.

I was intrigued by this image for many reasons. Some of the ways I was intrigued was by the quality of the photo the good lighting and the time period. The site I go it from, Pinterest, said that the picture was captured in 1952. The clothing implements the idea that it was taken a long time ago. The picture looks like it was taken in New York City or a popular economy in the United States or Europe. It also looks like it was taken in the winter, by her clothing. When I clicked not the link it said that it was the cover of People Magazine, therefore means that the photo was probably captured by professional photographer. The photo uses many elements and principles of photography.

Some of the elements and principles that this photo contributes a shallow depth of field. It is shallow depth of field in the way the girl stands out and the background is blurry, but yet still noticeable. Another element was unity for the way she stands, your eyes just follow many things, such as her fur coat and lighting on her face ect.

My Favorite Photo

                                                                     By Zach Grey

I liked this photo because, it is about football.  This players name is Demarius Thomas III.  When I was 10 years old, I wanted to be just like him.  He is really fast.  He played reciever and he is a return man.  he returned 11 kicks for a touchdown.  When I played, I only scored 5.  My goal was do match his stats for the year, but I fell short.  When he made it to the NFL, I was so happy.  He got drafted to the Kansas City Chiefs.  I got to see him in person and he is a great person.  He is one of my idols.

This photo was taken by using panning.  The colors of the player are very bright.  The colors in the background are very dark.  This photo also has asymmetry.  The weight on the left is heavy but on  the right is not heavy.  The photo has texture because the jersey.

sour toothpaste

This image is intriguing and appealing to me because how simple yet complex it is due to the plain baby blue background, my favorite color, and the toothpaste container containing the unexpected, a sour rope. I really like how this container is usually branded and known as a container that has toothpaste, so I really like the element of surprise this photo has. The complexity of this photo that I enjoy, shines when you notice the sour rope and not being able to tell if its being sucked into the tube or if its being pushed put. The simplistic part that I noticed and enjoyed of the photo is seen when I looked at the plain white tube and the baby blue background. I am very intrigued by this photo by the complexity, simplistic, delicate, and upbeat mood this photo brings to me.

Not only does the sour rope add the element of surprise, but it also adds texture, emphasis, movement, and contrast. The texture is portrayed when you look very close to the sour rope you can see the small sour crystals that look like they are glistening in this picture. The emphasis is in this photo due to the color contrast that the sour rope has compared to the background and how the eye goes straight to the sour rope. Movement is in this photo since the looker of this photo sees the top of the sour rope and it brings you back down the bottom of the white tube and then it brings you right back up to the top of the sour rope. The contrast is seen in the color difference of the harsh red in the sour rope and the delicate baby blue background.

This picture was intriguing to me because I like how all the components come together to create a message. The simplicity of the photo along with the expression of the girl's face and the kinda empty background depicts a story of deprivation and sadness. This picture also illustrates the concept of being forced to grow up fast; One girl is holding a cigarette and the other is facing the unknown, in a stance showing that she is ready to take on the world. Even though the girls look deprived and maybe in the state of depression, the spots of light show there is still hope.

The desaturation of the photo is used to show deprivation. A small aperture which makes a shallow depth of field was used to blur the background to make it seem ominous. The picture is zoomed in to focus on the girl looking into the camera. The asymmetrical aspects of this picture show that balance can be maintained during bad periods of time. A sense of unity is present in this picture by not making the photograph looked staged and unnatural.

Nebraska Football (Brody)

This Nebraska photograph shows the famous entrance of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. This picture was taken by Eric Francis. I really like this photo because it focuses on the players (Jordan Westercamp and Tommy Armstrong Jr.) and I feel a sense of excitement with the players running and the fireworks in the sky. This level of excitement would not have been portrayed had this been a day game. You would see more of the fans, making the players out of focus. You would not see the fireworks light up the sky in a day game as you would during a night game.
The photo has many different technical aspects. First the shutter speed must be fast enough to catch the players running in the image. Also, if this had a slow shutter speed the firework would be blurry. As I touched on earlier, the picture seems to be focused on the players and hype of the night game. That really shows off with the darkness. It has that feel like the stadium has an unlimited capacity. I like the contrast in colors with the grass being green, then there is white in the middle, and red on the top of the photo. Had this been a team with cool or dark colors this photo would not have had a good contrast.
I like this picture because for many reasons. First of all, I like the blue tint of the whole photo. The blueness creates a cool and modern atmosphere. Secondly, the photo has a very "teenage dream" feeling. I also like how the jeans and Adidas Superstars create a Tumblr aesthetic that most teenage girls aspire to have, but the box brings a youthfulness to the picture. The cardboard box reminds me of children finding the magic in everything; even a brown generic box can transport them to a whole new world.

The color scheme of this photo is unique. The street, her jeans, and the sky are all tinted blue, but the street lights, cardboard box, and the lights strung around her shoe are a warm tint, which contrasts with the blue. The colors are being used to tell a story of the battle of growing up and leaving your childhood behind. This photo was taken in deep depth of field, causing you to focus on her legs, not what is behind her. A principle of design used in the photograph is emphasis. The emphasis is on her legs. There is also asymmetry in the picture. One side is full of warm lights, and the other lacking any light and full of blue tints.

Jenney: picture I chose

By: Adrian Delsi

I chose this picture because when I looked up "still life photography", this image struck me the most. This picture makes me feel happy and excited because it is all yellow. I also enjoy the uniqueness of this photo. Usually a still life is all different colors of fruit with a neutral color wall in the background, but this one only emphasizes on the color yellow. I like how the photographer captured a still life photo, yet it's modern.
The main element of design in this picture is monochromatic, since the main color is this photo is yellow. This photo is highly saturated, which makes the color pop out more. The texture in this picture looks soft. The lemon next to the jar has a soft affect and contrasts with the wall, since they are different shades of yellow. The form of the jar is curved and makes the picture more unique.

Beaver: Picture I Like

I like this picture because the pink smoke reminds me of cotton candy but at the same time the photo is mysterious. When I saw this picture, taken by Brandon Wolfel, I automatically became curious which made me look further into the picture. The picture is ironic because umbrellas are used to keep things from getting under it, but in this picture thats exactly what's happening. I also like how the smoke trails off into the background leaving a trail which adds to the ''mysterioussness''. The main element of design in this picture is emphasis. The fact that he put the emphasis on the smoke and not the person makes it seem like the smoke is telling a story in away. If you follow the trail of smoke, it first goes towards the light in the photo and then swerves away from it and goes into the forest/woods behind it. The texture of this photo is very soft, which contrasts with the meaning. Another thing that adds to the meaning is that the girl in the picture literally has her head in the clouds. She's in a space away from the rest of the world, which is shown through the colors.

I like this photo for many reasons. Although there are contrasting colors in the photograph, I feel like they all work together to fit this piece together. All of the colors are different, but in a way they are all the same and nothing is really sticking out. It almost looks unsaturated and has a dark or mysterious feeling in it. There  are no people visible, but then there are human made objects, boats. Out of all the properties in this photo, I feel like we are drawn to those light brown boats, and yet the board walk which brings you towards the water, than brings you to the mountains, and later the sky. Also this photo has a calm and peaceful feeling with it. There isn't a lot going on. The shapes and reflections in the water also bring a lot of focus and movement. Lastly, it almost seems like there is no sun, or that it is a cloudy day. Theres no sun or sun set/rise drawing the people's eye.

Although this picture could possibly look symmetrical, there could be an argument for it being asymmetrical. The different amount of boats on either side of the board walk makes it non symmetrical, and the different mountain shapes/ ruffles in the water make in non symmetrical as well. However, there is very much a balance in this photo. You are not drawn to either side of the picture. There could also be an argument of unity and variety. Based on color, this photo could be unity, but based on texture, this photograph would be variety. The emphasis on this photo could be the boats because of their brighter colors and because of it being a man made object in a photo of all natural objects. Since there does not seem like there is much movement, the shutter speed would have been fast, not letting it blur.

Girl on Ladder

Photographer: David Tallery

Personally i like this photo for many reasons. the most prominate being that there are no contrasting colors. the dress is blue and the ladder and ground are brown. the clouds are grey and the water is a blue and grey color which ties together the blue dress and grey sky. the woman is showing a lot of emotion. the darker color back ground suggest a darker mood and her face being hidden from the camera shows some struggle. her dress blowing ing the wind and her hand outstretched in the same direction suggest defeat because she's not resisting the wind. David Tallery, the author, said he made this picture because his first serious relationship ended and he wanted to express his feeling.

There is emphasis on the girl on the ladder and her dress blowing in the wind. the scene around her is blurred to bring the focus more towards her. the movement of her dress brought my eye down to the blurry waves and then to the in focus ground. next my eyes wen too the ladder where the girls head is resting, then to the clouds behind her the represent her emotion. the scene is very monochromatic, the blues and grey blend and there is no contrast. the tans on the steps of the ladder are the same color as her skin. the ladder is the same color as the ground. her dress is blue and the blue grey sea ties in the grey clouds. the shutter speed would be high because the clouds the waves and her moving dress were stopped.

Twisty Twister

                      Taken by: Marko Korosec
You see the spiral of the twister making its initial descent. The first thing i think about is Dorthy, from the wizard of oz, getting swept up in the twister and ending up in oz. This image is asymmetrical. You can see how the dark clouds is almost evenly balanced with the amount of light areas, such as the blue sky and the green grass. The cars in this picture make it seem like the people are driving as fast as they can to get out of there. This image is calming although we know what is about to happen. We can see here the beauty before the storm, before the destruction process begins.

In this image it was taken with a f stop of about 5.6. Marko used a faster shutter speed in order to stop the car from moving and to stop the twister from twisting. The tornado is emphasized, it is where you eye goes once you initially look at the image. He also managed to capture the movement of the tornado. Your eye follows the spiral up and around till it reaches the top, then you follow it to the outside of the dark clouds, until you reach the white and blue sky. He also used proportion with the size of the car compared to the monstrous size of the tornado. Overall he used many different elements of design to capture this picture.

Splash and fire

This picture appeals to me because of the physical contrast of fire and water. The man in this picture is surfing and the fact that he is on fire is gnarly. The form of the wave causes movement of the eye to the fire. Personally I would love to be in his position because when he is older he can say, "Yo back in my glory days I used to surf..... While on FIRE."

The picture is mainly monochromatic and then there is a pop of red which is drawing your eye to the surfer. The curvature of the wave is causing movement to bring you eye back to the man who is on fire. The shutter speed would be in the thousands because of the movement of light and the f-stop would be 4. The depth of field is very deep and is clear to see. The photo is barely zoomed in its about at 22mm.The whole image in general is very pleasing to the eye by the rigidness of color and the different shades of color too.

UPDATE

This week I am taking a lot of photos due to having to restart my project. I am presenting on Thursday. As of now, I have 6 different photo...
